My question is do we even know what it means to be feminine? Wikipedia defines feminine, or femininity normally refers to qualities positively associate with women. My question then is AND what? Do we even know what these positive qualities look like? feel like? or how to be feminine? Thank God for women’s rights movement and we certainly have come a long way since the 1960’s in what a woman is now able to achieve but my question is have we become so focused on achieving that we have forgotten how to be a feminine woman?
Femininity to me are the non-physical aspects of yourself that make you feel more like a girl or a woman. Just because someone is beautiful to me doesn’t make them feminine and vise versa. Femininity is more about grace, dignity, being playful and being comfortable in your own skin. As a women when you combine all of these things together I think we hold a whole lot of power in our own hands that we don’t even recognize. The power of influence and the power of strength all the while being as sweet as a flower. Can you imagine how much more incredible you can make your life if you fully embraced all that was inside of you? We were meant to STAND OUT and not be invisible and I have to say after spending a lifetime of trying to be invisible I really missed the boat.
Becoming a first-rate version of ourselves far outweighs being a second rate version of anyone else or even half-rate version of who you can really be. And I for one am over being less than I can be because I’ve carried some stupid thoughts in my own head.
So my thought for today is to embrace your femininity and for those of you like me “fake it, till you feel it” eventually it will become more natural. Now you may be thinking okay if I am to be more graceful, have more dignity, be more playful and be comfortable in your own skin what is it that I am suppose to do today that will make me feel like a woman? And my answer is do whatever it takes to look and feel more like a woman - whether that be put on some make-up, spend time doing your hair, put on a dress (a big one for me), learn to accessorize, put cream on your whole body not just your legs and elbows, were something lacy, smell fantastic, or even wear a pair of great heels - whatever it is that makes you feel feminine. And lets start practicing learning to appreciate the women that we are, what do you think? I think its high time we feel more feminine and really good about ourselves everyday. :)
Till next time,
